New York Mental Health Counselors Association has been approved by the New York State Education Department as a provider of continuing education for Licensed Mental Health Counselors.

 Welcome to the NYMHCA's Learning Academy!  It was developed to address the continuing education needs of New York’s LMHC’s. As of January 1, 2017, LMHC's are required by the NY State Education Department to complete 36 hours of continuing education in order to renew their licenses every 3 years.

-      One third of those 36 hours can be self-study.

-      Two thirds of the requirement are live in-person and live online.

  NYMHCA’s Learning Academy can provide you with the continuing education that you need!

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

 How much does it cost for continuing education hours through the NYMHCA Learning Academy?

    • Continuing education hours costs $40 per contact hour if you are not a NYMHCA member. Members can receive a discount as follows:. 
      • NYMHCA members pay $30 per contact hour!
      • If you are also a member of a NYMHCA regional chapter you pay only $20 per contact hour!
    • You can receive discounts with a coupon you can use when you pay for your continuing education. If you do not use your coupon at the time of your purchase you will forfeit the discount. 
  • How do I receive my member discount coupon?
    • When you register as a learner with NYMHCA's Learning Academy, an e-mail will be sent to the system administrator who will verify your NYMHCA membership. Once your membership has been verified, you will receive the coupon code via e-mail. 
  • How do I create my profile so I can access programs now and in the future?    
    • You need to set up an account and profile in the academy but will not have to pay anything until you choose a topic of study from one of our catalogs.  When you do that you will be prompted to pay for it by credit card.  Once you have paid, you will have full access to the program and the quiz that (when passed) will generate a personalized Certificate of Completion!
